West Kennet Long Barrow

The West Kennett Long Barrow is a Neolithic burial mound dating back about 5500 years. It is one of the largest and best-preserved examples of a chambered tomb in southern England.

It is thought that this tomb was in use for as long as 1,000 years. Archaeological excavations in 1859 and 1955-56 found at least 46 burials, ranging from babies to elderly persons.
